Today, almost every hotel has, if not a restaurant, then at least a cafeteria, which business owners pay special attention to. But even fifty years ago, even large hotels considered catering a secondary issue. Restaurants in the hotel in those days were often unprofitable.
And the guests preferred to at least dine outside the hotel. Today, hotel meals are becoming increasingly important, because the very rhythm of life has changed. The demands on hotel restaurants are also growing. What features do they have?
Meals at the hotel: organization features
The operation of the hotel restaurant is significantly different from that of regular restaurants. He receives part of his income from the guests, most of whom have breakfast at the hotel. But they usually dine outside the hotel. Therefore, in this case, income is received from third-party visitors. Moreover, hotels often offer wedding and corporate banquets.
This requires a well-thought-out catering. Not only large hotels, but also smaller hotels are trying to make a restaurant with a separate entrance from the street and its own parking lot. There is another option - some hotels even rent the restaurant premises to professional restaurateurs in order to arrange catering in the hotel.
Meals at the hotel: organization options
Both large hotels and modest mini-hotels must follow certain rules. So, the hotel can provide three meals a day, which is called full board. There may be half board, and here there are already different schemes – it can be breakfast and lunch, or alternatively dinner.
Small hotels usually offer a one-time meal, which implies a mandatory breakfast, which is given a lot of attention in any hotel, since it starts the day of the guests.
There are different options: for example, a continental breakfast, which includes only drinks (coffee or tea), two types of jam and several types of pastries. There is a concept of an extended breakfast. Then, in addition to the above, the guests are offered cheese, ham, yogurt, various muesli and milk.
An English breakfast can include all of the above, as well as scrambled eggs, fish dishes, oatmeal porridge, etc. The type of breakfast is usually indicated on the hotel's website, so you can always find out in advance.
